Home Safe and Sound

July 12, 2010

Sorry to everyone who hoped to see updates here. Unfortunately, I had very little computer access in London and in Scotland virtually none. Starting next week I will be doing a day by day post of our trip including some fabulous photos on Smitten by Britain, my permanent blog. See you there.

We’re Here!

June 30, 2010

Really we are, and I’m sorry it’s taken so long to post. It has been an exhausting three or four days. The jet-lag has been terrible and goodness me is it ever hot here. Worst yet, no air conditioning. I imagined I would come home from Britain with lots of goodies, great photos and good memories, but never a tan! I’m off to bed to catch up on some sleep but before I go I thought I would throw up some of my favorite photos from the last few days. Enjoy!

City of Bath. I could have spent days here.

Shakespeare's Birthplace

The Great Hall at Hampton Court Palace. Officially my favorite place in England. The last medieval hall left in the world. I mean c'mon, look at that ceiling will you?

Christopher Wren extension on Hampton Court Palace. If you don't appreciate this photo, then I can't help you.

Laptop Fail

June 25, 2010

I found out last night that I won’t be able to take my laptop unfortunately. An HP representative told me that I would have to visit a computer store and purchase the proper voltage converter for my laptop for that region. I couldn’t be bothered, nor will I really have time to do that so I will have to depend on my UK phone with internet access. That means the posts will be fewer with fewer photos. I’m a little bummed about that. Camera phones don’t always take the best photos either. If you’re on Twitter, you’ll probably get more updates there. Otherwise, I’ll do my best to at least get one photo up from each day. It will be unlikely for my first photo to go up before Sunday night though. We won’t get checked in to our flat until 3pm Saturday and then Sunday morning we leave for a day trip to Bath.

Not a bad way to spend a Sunday eh?

It’s like Christmas Eve at my House

June 25, 2010

I haven’t been this excited since I was about…six.

I’m just saying.

Just Added

June 22, 2010

Thanks to a friend on Twitter (Laura from golondon.about.com), we’ve added a day trip to our itinerary. Laura clued me in on a special running now on day trips from London. £5 train ride to Brighton. I’m in! Cleared next Friday’s calendar, so unless we haven’t seen enough of London, we’ll be on the beach that day instead.

Packing

June 22, 2010

I wasn’t going to start packing until Thursday but yesterday I started to panic. It felt better to get some things done and get it off of my mind. Three adults traveling for 2 weeks. What do you think? Too much?

Welcome!

May 10, 2010

After a very long wait, I’m finally returning to Britain. I will be using this blog to document my journey. Thanks for following along. There is a subscription box in the sidebar where you can sign up to receive an email every time I post. That way, you won’t miss a single thing. If you don’t want to sign up by email, just bookmark this blog in your favorites. I will try to post every day, time permitting.  For the most part, it will be photos with a little bit of commentary. I am saving full commentary of each day’s events for my official blog following my return.

Feel free to leave your comments.  I look forward to hearing from you.
